How to Participate in Kì:li
We are looking for individuals or communities to participate in Kì:li! This will be in the form of a paid one-hour virtual or in-person interview ($75 per participant) regarding your community and its relationship to the lands and waters of your home place.
At the heart of Kì:li is a series of yarning sessions and interviews with Tribal Nations. We’re seeking to learn from those who steward these territories—especially Tribal Historic Preservation Officers, Environmental Departments, and cultural leaders—about places that hold ecological, spiritual, and ancestral significance, and about the needs and responsibilities that come with them.
These conversations will shape a shared map and data tool—not for extraction or ownership, but for advocacy and restoration. Participation is flexible, and we honor the right of every Nation to determine what is shared, what remains protected, and how information is used.
The goal of Kì:li is to gather data that will allow Indigenous East to advocate for tribal land acquisitions that create a connected network of Indigenous-owned, -managed, and -stewarded lands across the United States, east of the Mississippi. Through this work, we aim to develop a multi-Tribal vision for an Indigenous future, where our Nations are leading the protection, restoration, and governance of the lands & waters that have always sustained us.
If you are interested in participating in either a virtual or in-person event, please fill out the linked interest form below and one of our team members will send you the information to get you signed up!
